This year instead of a partridge in a pear tree, my song was about a parsnip in my sketchbook.
I spent the holiday with a terrible head cold. To keep myself occupied while everyone else celebrated, I asked the kids to find something in the kitchen for me to sketch. They brought me a parsnip from the crisper. I'm not even sure why I had a parsnip in the crisper since I've never cooked or eaten a parsnip in my life. But, at least I can now say I've sketched one.
Parsnips! Oh how I love 'em. This is a lovely sketch.

ReplyDeleteLovely parsnip! Peel it, toss it in olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and roast it along with onions, carrots, and other roots. It's not too strong a flavor and will blend nicely. By the time it's done you may feel well enough to eat it : )

ReplyDeleteMmmmm parsnip, love them in soups, rosted and stews, and today I have to drag my self out to get some and other roots (husband down with flu and I have a cold)... Really good drawing and I like your text along with it, I hope you are feeling better and able to enjoy the season.
